HEALTH AND SAFETY

The quality of the working conditions is reflected in the success of the business. CENTRAL applies the most stringent hygiene and safety standards to protect the health of its employees and customers, by providing constant training in this field and ensuring that spaces are always clean and organized. The logistical handling of any product is done with the utmost care and attention, from the moment it leaves the producer (through transport, customs clearance and local storage) until it arrives at the store. CENTRAL applies to backstage operations the same demanding criteria that it applies to facilities open to the public.

PLASTIC REDUCTION

CENTRAL was a pioneer in the use of paper bags in its stores which came to replace plastic ones, as well as in the purchase of recyclable carts and shopping baskets made from recycled materials. In the coffee shop it has implemented total elimination of disposable plastics, and stopped the use of plastic straws, cutlery, plates and cups in the takeaway.

WASTE FORWARDING

Environmental protection is a priority in CENTRAL’s management processes.
An example of this is the plastic collection service it offers to the general public. At the front of our stores there is a container to deposit the plastic packaging, which is later collected by the entity responsible for the waste management, a partner of ours. Internally, CENTRAL separates and forwards all types of waste for recovery operations.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

CENTRAL is very concerned with its environmental performance. In order to optimize energy consumption, it uses devices such as timers, controllers and motion detectors that allow lower electricity consumption, HVAC systems of the highest energy class, information systems focused on forecasting demand in addition to following strict product handling rules, in order to avoid losses and waste. It is independent in terms of power redundancy, thus guaranteeing the food safety of all products in case of local failure.
